ბრწყინვალე სპექტაკლია, კლასიკური ნაწარმოები გაბედულად, ყოფითად და ძალიან დამაჯერებლად გვიჩვენეს. თითოეული მსახიობი ლაღად ერთვება მოქმედებაში და ტკბება თამაშით. რეჟისორი ქეთი დოლიძე აძლევს მათ საშუალებას ბოლომდე გვიჩვენონ რა შეუძლიათ.
მრავლისმეტყველია პირველივე სცენა, როდესაც დები ერთმანეთს ხვდებიან. ბლანში (ნინელი ჭანკვეტაძე) ერთდროულად გვიჩვენებს როგორი დაუცველი და სათუთი ბუნებისაა მისი გმირი და ამავე დროს რა ძლიერი ხასიათი აქვს. იგი თავის დასთან თითქოს იმის გამო ჩამოვიდა, რომ სკოლაში მუშაობას თავი ანება, სინამდვილეში კი ცხოვრება დაენგრა. მისი და სტელა ( ირინა გიუნაშვილი) ცოლად გაჰყვა სტენლის, ერთ პოლონელ მუშას, რომელიც განსხვავებულ სოციალურ კლასს განეკუთვნება და სრულიადაც არა ჰგავს იმ ადამიანებს, ვისთანაც ბლანში გაიზარდა ან მის გარშემო იყვნენ. მაგრამ სტელას უყვარს თავისი ქმარი, მიუხედავად ყველა ნაკლისა. ცდილობს როგორმე მოაგვაროს ურთიერთობა თავის დასა და ქმარს შორის, მაგრამ ეს არც ისე ადვილი გამოდგება, თანაც ის ფეხმძიმედაა.
მათთან სახლში კარტს ხშირად თამაშობენ. სტენლის ერთ-ერთი მეგობარი მიჩი ბლანშს დაუახლოვდება. თემურ გვალია არაჩვეულებრივად ასრულებს ამ როლს. გვიჩვენებს ემოციების მთელ სპექტრს, რასაც გრძნობს და განიცდის მთელი მოქმედების განმავლობაში.
საინტერესო, დაძაბული სპექტაკლია და მოქმედების აღქმაში სუბტიტრები არ გვეხმარება - როგორც თავიდან გვითხრეს, ეს თარგმანის თარგმანი არ გახლავთ, ტენესი უილიამსის სიტყვა-სიტყვითი ტექსტია. ჰოლივუდური გლამური არაფერში არ იგრძნობა, მაგრამ მთელი დასი ცდილობს ჩაგვითრიოს, ჩაგვრიოს საკუთარ პრობლემებში და იბრძვის, რათა უკეთესი გახადოს მისი ცხოვრება.

This brilliant production of what is now a classic is gritty, down to earth and deeply believable. Every member of the cast enters into the action with gusto and commitment. Director Keti Dolidze has inspired them to give of their best.
The opening reunion of the sisters tells us much about these central characters. Blanche (Nineli Chankuetadte) combines deep insecurity and fragility with a kind of strength. She has come to stay with her sister ostensibly because she has stopped working at a school, but her life is falling apart. Sister Stella (Irina Giureshvili) has married Stanley, a worker of Polish family and of a very different type and class from the people Blanche is used to and grew up with. But Stella loves him, despite his glaring faults. She does her best to liaise between her visitor and her husband, but this is tough, and she is heavily pregnant.
Card games happen often in the household, and one of Stanley’s friends, Mitch, becomes close to Blanche. Here, Teimuraz Gvalia gives an impressive performance, showing clearly the range of emotions he goes through.
This is an intensely involving production, and the fact that there are surtitles does not affect involvement – these, as we are told at the beginning, are not re-translations but always word for word Tennessee Williams’ text. We are a very long way from Hollywood glamour here, and the cast transport us to a vibrant community, struggling to make life as good as possible, rowing but dealing with their conflicts together.
If you want to see new life breathed into a classic, with passion, violence and heartbreak convincingly portrayed, this is one to make sure you do not miss.

აი ასე გვიწვევს Roxy თუმანიშვილის კინომსახიობთა ქართული თეატრის სპექტაკლზე /ინგლისური სუბტიტრებით/ - თანამედროვე კლასიკოსის ტენესი უილიამსის შესანიშნავ პიესაზე, რომელიც მოგვითხრობს ოდესღაც უმშვენიერესი ბლანშ დიუბუას ისტორიას, დღეს უკვე განადგურებულს, უსახლკაროს და თავისი დის სტელას და მისი ქმრის, მუშა სტენლის კეთილგანწყობაზე დამოკიდებულს.
მოქმედება ხდება ქუჩის გადაღმა, სცენის სიღრმესი მდებარე ბარის ფონზე. ბარში პროექციით მოჩანს მუსიკოსთა სილუეტები და მოისმის 30-იანი წლების ნიუ ორლეანის ჯაზის ჰიტები, ხან ხმამაღლა, ხან კი ოდნავ გასაგონად.
ქეთი დოლიძის 95 წუთიანმა არაჩვეულებრივმა სპექტაკლმა ღირსეული მეწყვილეობა გაუწია ედინბურგის საერთაშორისო ფესტივალის წლევანდელ ‘მინის სამხეცეს’, რომელიც ბლანშის მსგავს სამხრეთელ ქალზე მოგვითხრობს. ასეთები იოლად არ იმსხვრევიან, თითქოს გონებრივად რიგზე არ არ არიან, როგორც სხვებს ჰგონიათ, მაგრამ სინამდვილეში წარმოუდგენლად ძლიერები არიან, იბრძვიან სიცოცხლისთვის, ოცნებებისთვის, იმისთვის, რაც უყვართ, მაგრამ სოციალური ძალადობის წნეხს ვერ უძლებენ. ნებისმიერ ადამიანს გაუჭირდებოდა გამკლავება.

Staged against the beautifully-realised backdrop of a back-alley bar across the street, where the projected shadows of musicians play magnificent riffs of 1930s New Orleans jazz swelling up and fading behind the action, Keti Dolidze’s finely shaped 95-minute production offers a fascinating companion piece to this year’s Edinburgh International Festival production of The Glass Menagerie, reflecting the same sense that southern women like Blanche are not the fragile, mentally damaged flowers they are often taken for, but immensely strong women fighting for their lives, for their dreams, and for what they love, and eventually broken by social forces no human being could easily withstand. თუმანიშვილის კინომსახიობთა თეატრს საქართველოდან არაჩვეულებრივი დასი ჰყავს და ამას კიდევ ერთხელ ადასტურებს ეს უნატიფესი, ძლიერი ენერგიით დამუხტული სპექტაკლი. ცნობილი სამკუთხედი - ბლანშ დიუბუა, მისი და სტელა და სტელას ქმარი სტენლი კოვალსკი - ეჭვიანობისა და ძალადობის ტრადიციული ჩარჩოდან გამოდის და სრულიად ახალი სიცოცხლით ივსება. რეჟისორი ქეთი დოლიძე იოლად ახერხებს გმირებს შორის ლტოლვა და დაძაბულობა დუღილის წერტილზე აიყვანოს, მიუხედავად იმ გაუცნობიერებელი ქალთმოძულეობის გრძნობისა, რაც მუდამ იკითხება ტენესი უილიამსის პიესებში. სცენის შესანიშნავი დიზაინი, მოვერცხლისფრო-მოთეთრო ტონებში გადაწყვეტილი, სიღრმეში მოცეკვავე ჩრდილებითა და მუსიკოსთა სილუეტებით არის ოდა, რომელიც ჯაზის ეპოქის დიდებულებასა და ხიბლს ეძღვნება.

The Georgian theatre company Tumanishvili Film Actors Theatre are a wonderful ensemble, and this sultry, graceful production stands easily on its own terms. The famous triangle of Blanche DuBois, sister Stella and her husband Stanley Kowalski, undone by class jealousy and power, is given a new energy. Director Keti Dolidze effortlessly draws out the simmering sexual tension between characters, but also the ingrained misogyny implicit in Williams' play. A gorgeous silver and white set with back-lit shadows showing dancing and musicians is a wonderful paean to the tensions and glamour of the jazz era.
Stanley is pictured as vulnerable in his own way as pregnant Stella, but no less brutish. His first scene chopping meat at the table sets the scene perfectly for his unreconstructed caveman ways, but there is a sliver of failure and sadness in his portrayal. The mental health problems Blanche suffers are sensitively portrayed by a wonderful Nineli Chankvetadze, and the whole thing fizzes with humour, where jealous spouses chase their men with kitchen utensils; desire, as relationships thrive on sweaty animal attraction; and the violence of mistrust.
Dolidze must be commended for bending new shapes into a widely regarded classic which still resonates with the games people play out in back rooms and bedrooms.

თუმანიშვილის თეატრის ქართული დასის ყოველი ჩამოსვლა ედინბურგის ფესტივალზე სასიამოვნო განცვიფრების საწინდარია. ამჯერად საშუალება გვქონდა გვენახა ტენესი უილიამსის ‘ტრამვაი-სურვილი’, ძალიან დახვეწილი სპექტაკლი, რომელიც რომელიმე ინგლისურმა თეატრმა კი არა, ქართულმა თეატრმა წაიკითხა ახლებურად და რაც ამ თანამედროვე კლასიკაში აღმოაჩინა, ის გვიჩვენა.
მოქმედება 1950 იანი წლების ჯაზით დანისლულ ატმოსფეროში ვითარდება. სცენაზე ქართულად საუბრობენ, მაგრამ ტიტრებად ტენესი უილიამსის დედნის ტექსტი მიყვება, რომელიც მაქმანივით ამკობს თუნდაც ქართულად წაკითხულ პოეტურ სამხრეთულ დიალოგს.
ასეთ ატმოსფეროში გავიცანით ბლანში /ნინელი ჭანკვეტაძე/, რომლის ცხოვრება უკვე ბოლომდე დანგრეულია, მაგრამ ცდილობს გარეგნულად არაფერი შეიმჩნიოს, თავისი შეწუხებული და თავგზააბნეული დის, სტელას /ირინა გიუნაშვილი/ გამო. მათ გარშემო კი ტრიალებენ სტენლი /იმედა არაბული/ და მიჩი /თემო გვალია/ , რომლებიც სრულიად სხვა ორბიტაზე ბრუნავენ.
აზარტული მეტოქეობის პროცესში მოქმედება თანდათან დაღმავალ სპირალზე ეშვება. ვნებები უკვე აშკარად აღარ იგრძნობა, დაფარული და შენიღბული ხდება. სამაგიეროდ უკიდურესი დაძაბულობა ახლა თითქმის დანგრეულ ოჯახზე გადადის, რომლის ცხოვრებაც ბლანშმა თავდაყირა დააყენა.
დების ურთიერთობაში სტენლის არსებობა ნელი მოქმედების ბომბივით წიკწიკებს, ისევე როგორც მიჩის მერყევი ‘ჰო თუ არა’ და საბოლოო ჯამში ამ ორმა მამაკაცმა ორი დის გაუცნობიერებელი ლტოლვა თუ სწრაფვა ბოლომდე დაამიწა.
აი რა ტრაექტორიით მოძრაობს სპექტაკლი ბრწყინვალე დასის შესრულებით და დოლიძის ძლიერი და დახვეწილი რეჟისურით, რომელიც ქალების მონოლოგებისთვის სცენის ცენტრს იყენებს გარშემორტყმულს თითქმის სიზმრეული ქაოტური სამყაროთი, მამუკა ტყეშელაშვილის თითქოსდა საგასტროლოდ გაიოლებული დიზაინი

Georgia’s Tumanishvili Theatre usually has a surprise up its sleeve each time it comes to Edinburgh, and this time it's a powerful version of A Streetcar Named Desire that gives us the opportunity to experience an accomplished non-UK theatre company at work as it explores a modern classic.
The action takes its atmosphere from the smoky jazz of the 1950s, with Tennessee Williams' original text surtitled over the Georgian dialogue, which is tastefully laced with added social niceties to capture the poetic formalness of the Deep South dialogue.
And so we meet Blanche (Nineli Chankvetadze), falling to bits but rallying to keep a strong front for the sake of concerned but distracted Stella (Irina Giunashvili), while Stanley (Imeda Arabuli) and Mitch (Temo Gvalia) circle the sisters from different directions.
As the rivalries play out in an inevitably downward spiral, the passion becomes less physical and more smouldering as the tension focuses on the strains put on the admittedly already dysfunctional family set-up which Blanche's presence is busy capsizing.
With the sisters' story at the core, Stanley’s primal presence ticks away like a time bomb as does Mitch’s will-he-won't-he dithering, both men interfering with the women's instinct to keep everything on an even keel.
It's a trajectory that delivers, and the cast sparkle under Dolidze's tight direction which puts the women's monologues centre stage, an almost dreamlike space framed by the chaotic real world panned stage left and right across Mamuka Tkeshelashvili’s adaptable touring-style set.

Curious that a Georgian company would put on the Tennessee Williams play about a Southern woman made dysfunctional by the society she didn’t fit into. But Keti Dolidze’s strong contemporary interpretation gives us a chance to compare the “failures” of that genteel American South of the 1940s with what happened in later years.

The Tumanishvili Film Actors Theatre of Tbilisi, which presented a stunning version of “Animal Farm” at Edinburgh in 2014, has now turned to naturalism with a jazzy melodrama that provides a gothic vision of the South. It’s in Georgian with English supertitles. But what the company does to Williams’ play is make it not seem like the American South at all. It could be located anyplace with tough working class people who take women for granted.
Blanche DuBois (the very good Nineli Chankvetadze) is a tough matronly blonde who is anything but fragile. She is not a floozy, but she drinks. In a saffron colored dress and pearls or all in white, which represents the woman she would like to be, she is never delicate.
Mitch (Temo Gvalia), the guy she wants, broods and drinks a lot. He has another girlfriend, but wants Blanche and feels betrayed by learning about the ex-school teacher’s sexual history.
The men, including the Polish Stanley (Imeda Arabuli), drink and play cards a lot. His wife Stella (Irina Giunashvili) seems without backbone or sense of self. If Blanche is destined to end up in a sanatorium, they drove her there. It could be rewritten as “Diary of a Madwoman.” Not as crude or cruel as “Trainspotting,” but in each case an economic system with few options for them drove them to their own madness.
